He started his career in the port of Rotterdam at ECT where he was a member of the design team for the world’s first automated container handling facility at Maasvlakte.
He worked in India as consultant to CONCOR, a rail transport and terminal operator, and upon his return to the Netherlands he joined ECT’s international business development team focusing on the development of port and inland terminals.
In 2000, he joined Grup TCB in the Port of Barcelona to set up the company’s business development department dedicated to expanding the group’s container terminal portfolio. In this capacity, he led multi-disciplinary teams with projects in countries such as Argentina, Aruba, Australia, Brazil, Canada, Dominican Republic, India, Indonesia, Kenya, Mexico, Myanmar, Tunisia and Turkey. Under his leadership, Grup TCB’s portfolio doubled with the addition of 6 terminals.

Mauricio has a wide international experience in Europe, North America, Latin America, Asia and Africa, in several sectors as Ports Investment, Renewable Energies, Real Estate Development, Public Administration and Consulting.
He holds a MBA by ESADE, obtained a postgraduate degree in Finance Management by Universitat Pompeu Fabra (UPF) and is Architect by Pontificia Javeriana of Colombia.
Mauricio has been working for more than 25 years in areas such as Business Development (6 years for Grup TCB), Project Management, Finance Management, Finance & Marketing Consulting, Business Internationalization and General Management, participating in multicultural and multilingual environments.
He also has been private entrepreneur and taught International Negotiation at La Salle (Universitat Ramón Llull) and Enterprise Risk Analysis for Finance Entities (Deutsche Bank and Caixa Bank). He holds an MBA by ESADE, Postgraduate degree in Finance Management by Universitat Pompeu Fabra and an MBA for Construction Companies by Universitat Politecnica de Catalunya.
Xavier GonzálezPort infrastructures, civil works, industrial organization
He holds a M.Sc. in Building Engineering and a M.Sc. in Industrial Organization, both by Universitat Politecnica de Catalunya (UPC). He also completed a Master in Engineering and Port Management by UPC.
He started his career as self-employed professional in construction projects, detailed design projects, construction management, contracting, cost control, quality control, safety and health at construction sites and project management. At the same time, during a period of 13 years, he worked at Grup TCB’s engineering department as manager for contracting and construction of port terminals.
He participated in the construction of new container terminals in Spain, Turkey, Cuba, Mexico, Brazil and Colombia.
After this, he joined Grup TCB’s Business Development team to give a boost to the company’s international expansion, with projects developed in Portugal, Croatia, Greece, Kenya, Ivory Coast, Angola, Morocco, Cameroon, Ghana, Vietnam, India and Peru.
